Cops and fetishes...

A former Munhall officer has been charged with hosting parties for teenage girls in which he bought them alcohol and on occasion let some of the illegally drive his car. Still employee police officers have alleged that Michael John Curtain was allowing middle and high school under aged girls openly drink at his home, the youngest of the girls was just 13.

And, while that's creepy and clearly in bad judgement- it keeps a little creepier as the story continues:

One girl told police Curtain admitted to having a foot fetish.

In a unanimous vote, Munhall Boro Council dismissed Curtain in February. It was a personal matter, and it's now in the criminal courts.

Curtain faces multiple criminal counts, including indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and selling and furnishing alcohol to minors.

Reminds me of something... just can't figure out what... oh wait, I know- it's that wonderful piece of advice we give to kids in case they ever find themselves in a difficult situation in need of help 'find a police officer'. Let's just hope that those kids who end up needing to use that advice are able to find one of the many good ones, rather than a bad apple like Curtain.

Well, it's a lesson in stupidity

Dream Demon has a post up you just have to read. It starts with a teacher, Donna Sanders. She teaches special ed. I'm thinking she might be in more need of a 'special education' than her students are. As a parent, and a teacher- we just sort of expect that she'd have more brains than her actions proved she had.

And, while we're talking about people with the mentality of a primate- Women in Crime Inc has a case proving the need to keep sexual predators on the other side of the prison bars... for life.

Adding to the list of bad excuses

I've heard some insane excuses for why a man would beat a woman- so I've rarely taken back by just how stupid someone expects the rest of us to be when they ramble out some story that would make Baron Münchhausen look like an honest man. But, this one is worth mentioning- just for the fact that it's so- out of this world, or at least out of this life (and into the afterlife).

Willie Leon McCoy is 52. Last year, he was convicted of various charges including aggravated incest, sexual assault on child by someone in a position of trust, and sexual assault on a child, pattern of abuse; after it was alleged that he's sexually abused his 6 year old stepdaughter. McCoy says that as a result of these charges (which he denies) his mental condition spiraled downhill, leading him to drink... a lot. He was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison, which is to be expected of course. But- the interesting defense he gave didn't involve the sexual assault, it was his explanation of why he beat his wife with a baseball bat.

A 52-year-old man convicted of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter and beating his wife with a baseball bat because he thought she was a ghost was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison.

A ghost? Seriously? Do the rest of us look that damn stupid?

Teach of the Year... never

Timothy Allen Rhodes isn't likely to be getting the Teacher of the Year Award from his now former employee Pleasant Plains Elementary, especially since he was charged Thursday with sex abuse of a minor, second-degree child abuse, second-degree assault and third-degree sex offense.

The school system's policy is to place employees facing criminal charges on administrative leave, but Herndon said he could not confirm Rhodes' employment status because it is a personnel matter.

According to Baltimore County police, the girl and her mother contacted police on April 11, after the girl told her mother she'd been abused and indicated that she wanted to change schools. Citing student privacy concerns, Herndon declined to say whether the girl attends Pleasant Plains Elementary.

Rhodes' wife watched the girl before and after school to help the victim's mother, who was going to school, police said.

Police say the abuse occurred between 20 to 30 times, and also included Rhodes showing the girl porn, in order to "instruct her on sexual acts he desired".

Fake name for firefighter

A registered sex offend who used his name while attempting to gain a job as a firefighter has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Edward Minerly, 45 was convicted in 1992 of first-degree sexual assault on a minor. He'd also been charged in 1991 with sexually assaulting two children who were 6 and 9 at the time- although I'm not seeing a conviction in regards to those charges.

He'd applied for a position as a firefighter in Shelton, resulting in charges of forgery and violation of probation.

Minerly has been in custody since his arrest in February 2007.

Shelton police arrested Minerly after he allegedly tried to join the Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Company using a fake last name, "Miner," on an application.

Lessons for Sunday School

Danny Parker is a 38 year old Sunday school teacher who lives with his folks in Florida. He happened to purchase adult pornographic magazines from around the area, which isn't illegal. However, what he decided to do with them was.

Police say they started to investigate Parker after someone found 90 photos of young girls ages 5 to 15, all with their faces cut out of the photos.

During a search, police found a homemade photo album that Parker created containing images of young girls, between the ages of 5 and 15 years old, pasted on top of naked, pornographic and sexually explicit pictures of women's bodies, a Polk County Sheriff's news release said.

Parker admitted to purchasing adult pornographic magazines from Hillsborough and Pasco counties and altering the images to reflect child porn, the news release said.

Detectives said Parker snapped the photos at the Lake Acres Baptist Church, where he volunteered, and at the Lake Wales Care Center, where he also volunteered as a youth camp photographer.

Parker was booking into the Polk County Jail on 90 counts of sexual performance by child and a count of possession of images of child pornography, the sheriff's office said.

Nothing like volunteering at a Sunday school and youth camp in order to get materials for your demented art projects.
